PLAYER PROFILE

High School - 2004:

  • Helped lead Cleburne High School to a 33-7 record and a spot in the state semifinals
  • Allowed one earned run and struck out five in three innings against Denton Ryan in the state semifinals
  • Went 12-3 on the mound and hit .443 with six home runs and 46 RBIs
  • Earned first team all-state and all-district honors as a senior
  • Was named team MVP as a senior
  • Threw a no-hitter in his first start of the 2004 season against Granbury, coming within one out of a perfect game
  • Tossed a second no-hitter against Waco University
  • Named MVP of his all-county team
  • Hit .317 as a designated hitter his junior season
  • Also a member of the golf team

College Freshman - 2005:

  • Went 5-8, with a 5.58 ERA
  • Led the team with 23 appearances

  • Made his first collegiate start in the home opener against Dallas Baptist, allowed only two runs on four hits in six innings in a no decision

  • Picked up the only save of his career by pitching three shutout innings, allowing no hits with three punchouts
  • Followed that up the next afternoon by pitching five shutout innings to earn the victory in the longest game in the history of Mavericks baseball
  • Named the SLC Pitcher of the Week for his efforts against SHSU
  • Tossed a complete-game four-hit shutout against then-No. 12 Baylor while allowing just one single each in the first, fourth, sixth and ninth innings...allowed only six base runners and did not allow a runner past second base
  • Earned his second SLC Pitcher of the Week honor for his efforts against Baylor

NCAA Tournament:

SLC Tournament: Made two starts during the tournament...took the loss in the tournament opener after giving up four earned runs in 3.1 innings...came back on the final day of the tournament against Lamar...got a no-decision after giving up two earned runs over two innings.

2006: 6-9, 5.35 ERA, one save...leads the Mavs with 17 starts and 106 innings...made two appearances out of the bullpen...tied for seventh on the UTA single-season innings-pitched list with John Henrickson...ranks second on the team with 67 strikeouts...got the start on opening day and picked up the victory after giving up one run over five innings...struck out a then-career-best eight in a start against Dallas Baptist...allowed one run in a seven-inning complete-game victory over Northwestern State in the SLC opening series...pitched three hitless innings in a predetermined three-inning start at Oklahoma State...tossed a complete-game six-hit shutout in a victory over Stephen F. Austin...tossed a seven-inning complete-game victory over McNeese State...picked up his first save of the season by pitching three innings in the series finale against Sam Houston State...earned the victory over Texas State in the series opener, clinching a tournament berth for the Mavs...struck out a career-best 11 in a nine-inning no decision against Dallas Baptist.
